Product Review :Chocolate Peanut Butter Bread Mix

by Heather on January 11, 2010

Alex wanted me to make a dessert last night and I was having a hard time deciding on anything with our ingredients-on-hand. Then, I remembered my little sister gave me this bread mix for Christmas and that solved my problem! It is extremely easy to mix up. Just add a stick of melted butter, 2 eggs and 3/4 cup of water to the mix, stir it up and pour into a greased bread pan. it takes a good hour or so to bake.

How did it taste?? Delicious, of course. The mix comes with large peanut butter chips, which is what qualifies it as “peanut butter,” since the bread itself is straight chocolate. I struggled some in getting the bread out of the pan, so make sure you spray or coat that thing very liberally. It was moist all the way through and would be ideal with a glass of milk. On the side of the package is listed a recipe for cupcakes and frosting as an alternative

Would I buy this? I have tried some of Williams Sonoma’s other bread mixes in the past (so far, the best has been eggnog), but ONLY when they’re on sale. This one may be hard to find on sale since it’s not really a seasonal flavor. And, with a price of $10.50, I would say not for myself. Maybe as a gift along with a cookbook, as I received it, with a nice ribbon wrapped around the two!
